PERFECT TOURIST DESTINATION REDI VENGURLA

  Dream tourist destination a small village called Redi. An ancient name is known as Rewati.

It is located close to the shore of the Arabian Sea. In the district of Sindhudurg in Maharashtra. Redi As the upcoming identity of a tourist destination because of its clean and peaceful coastal line, full of biodiversity. Redi was built by Marathas in the 16th century, thereafter it captured by the Portuguese in 1746, later it was handed over to the Sawant's clan of Maharashtra to the purpose of the peace treaty which was short-lived. In 1765 it was captured by Britishers. Who sold the land to the local peoples in 1890 while returning ownership.

   The best time to visit Redi is from January to May (summer season) October -December (winter season), due to Redi features a tropical Monson climate it has heavy rainfall during the months of June to September.

   It has many tourist spots such as Ganesh Temple, Mauli Temple, Shiv Temple, Navdurga Templ, Rampurush Temple, Siddheshwar Temple, Sai Baba Temple, Yashwant Gad Fort & Redi Port.

1.   Ganesh Temple

  According to folk legends, this Ganesh idol dates back to the Pandava period. Ganesh idol is beautiful and it has two arms (dwibhuja). Ganesh idol is carved in stone. The Ganpati idol was found in one of the mines near Rewati port in 1976. A local person by the name of Sadashiv Kambli supposedly visualized a buried statue of Lord Ganesha in his dream and convinced local workers to dig out the statue from the seashore. The statue is approximately 6 ft in height and 4 ft in width.

                                                      

                                                  

        

  2. Yashwant Gad Fort

In the 610-611AD Redi was an important trading port of the Chalukya Swamiraja. Redi Fort was built by the Marathas between 1707 and 1713 part of Admiral Kanhoji Angre's line of fort defenses built for Maratha Queen Tarabai Bhosale. It was later captured by the Portuguese in 1746.

Redi doesn’t possess a railway station or an airport. However, this does not hamper the travel to this scenic spot.
